Has the Grand Jury Decided to Indict Officer Darren Wilson on the Murder of 18 Year Old Michael Brown?
According to several news outlets the jury has reached a decision. The announcement is supposed to be made sometime on Monday. As peaceful protest have occurred all weekend people on both sides have been waiting for the verdict.
On August 9, 2014, Mike Brown, an unarmed black teenager, was shot several times by the white officer in Ferguson, Missouri. Since that day tensions have flared as race has played a major factor in the case. There are numerous videos and witnesses who all say that the teenager was unarmed and was trying to surrender when Officer Wilson shot two fatal shots in the young man’s head. Riots and protest have ensued since then. Even celebs have spoken out against the injustice happening in Ferguson.
Brown’s step-father has asked that there be no violence following the decision. He writes:
As much as I don’t want to believe this to be true, I doubt that he will be indicted. The jury has reached a decision already. The fact that they are prepping for the worse to happen by declaring a state of emergency in Missouri as well as sending all of these different military branches to help the St. Louis police makes it seem like the state is preparing to go to war against the people living there.
Let’s hope everyone keeps the peace as the press conference reveals the verdict.
