It takes a brave person to confront racism face-to-face with members of historically dangerous hate organizations.
Mo Asumang went straight to the source to see why Neo-Nazis and Klu Klux Klan members have so much hatred for minorities. She spoke to several members of these groups for her 2014 documentary The Aryans.
While some were very cold and distant using those cliche “Go back to Africa” remarks, others were surprisingly open-minded after their conversation progressed with Asumang. She concluded:
“I think it totally confuses them because I’m not like they want me to be so I stand there; maybe I smile at them and because it’s a human reaction you wanna smile back so I see them trying to hold down the smile and that’s something very, very interesting.”
