Friday morning Amy Adams had a nice surprise for one lucky soldier in Detroit, Michigan.
Not only did he get to meet the American Hustle actress, he also was given her first class seat on their flight to Los Angeles in exchange for his coach ticket!
ESPN commentator Jemele Hill tweeted:
Just saw actress Amy Adams do something incredibly classy. She gave her 1st class seat to an American soldier. I’m an even bigger fan now.

In an email to Today, Hill explained further in detail what she saw that day:
“When we were waiting to board, I saw her glance the soldier’s way and then she said something to the person she was traveling with. Once we boarded, I saw she was in first class. I was upgraded to first class and she was a couple rows behind me. I think she must have said something to the flight attendant, because before we took off she had vacated her seat and the flight attendant brought the soldier to her seat. I just thought it was incredibly classy and thoughtful. I already was a fan of hers, but now I’m a bigger one after today.”
Another passenger, Earnest Owens, told Inside Edition that Adams said it was a “random act of kindness” and it was “something she always wanted to do and she just decided to put her money where her mouth is.”
Earnest was also able to get a selfie with the star.
Adams let it be known she didn’t do this for attention for herself but rather to give attention to the troops. Her father, Rich Adams, served as a U.S. Army officer.
It’s nice to see celebs doing good deeds from time to time.
